Fur Is Chosen by Hand

No photograph can tell you how a fur feels. The weight on your shoulders, the way the light moves across it, the softness under your fingers: these are things you only learn by putting it on.

If you are looking for women’s fur in Bodrum, Leather Bodrum is the Bodrum store of BEST Leather and Fur, working with mink, sable, fox, chinchilla and rex since 1996. Here is what to know before you come in.

The collection

Types of Fur

Every fur has its own length, density and movement. Some are sleek and close, others full and dramatic. These are the furs we work with and what sets each one apart.

Mink

The classic. Short, dense and silky with a natural sheen, light to wear and among the most durable of all furs.

Best for coats and jackets worn often

Sable

The most prized fur of all. Exceptionally light and silky, in deep brown tones that seem to glow from within.

Best for a once in a lifetime piece

Fox

Long, full and impossible to ignore. Its volume and movement make it the most glamorous choice.

Best for collars, trims, statement jackets

Chinchilla

The softest and densest fur there is, feather light, with its unmistakable shading from pearl grey to slate.

Best for special occasions

Rex

Short, plush and velvety, with an even surface that takes color beautifully. An easy way into real fur.

Best for jackets, gilets, accessories

Leather with fur

The two materials we know best, together. A leather jacket or coat finished with a fur collar, lapel or lining.

Best for everyday winter wear

Why Fur Is So Warm

Fur is built in two layers. The longer outer hairs, called guard hairs, give it its sheen and shed wind and moisture. Beneath them lies the underfur, a much finer and denser layer that traps air and holds warmth close to the body.

That is why a good fur coat feels surprisingly light for how warm it is. The balance between the two layers is also what gives each fur its character: mink is all smooth guard hair over thick underfur, while fox is loved for its long, flowing outer coat.

  • Soft and warm. Natural insulation that no woven fabric quite matches.
  • Light. Fine fur keeps you warm without weighing you down.
  • Rich in texture. Each fur has its own pattern, depth and play of light.
  • Long lasting. With proper care a quality fur is worn for many years.
  • Individual. Natural shading means no two pieces are ever identical.

Ways to Wear Fur

Fur does not have to mean a floor length coat. It can be the whole outfit or simply the detail that finishes it.

The coat

Full length and timeless. The piece people picture when they think of fur, and the warmest way to wear it.

The jacket

Cut at the hip or waist. Easier to wear from day to evening, and just as striking over jeans as over a dress.

The gilet

Sleeveless and made for layering. A long gilet lengthens the figure, a short one adds shape on top.

The detail

A collar, a pair of cuffs, a hat or a small accessory. A touch of fur that changes a whole outfit.

Fur is not only for women. Bombers with fur, fur collars and lapels, aviator jackets and parkas have long been part of menswear. Ask our team what is in the current collection.

How to Choose a Fur

You do not need to be an expert to recognize quality. Trust your hands and your eyes, and take your time in front of the mirror.

  3. 03Lift itQuality fur is supple and light for its warmth. It should move with you, never feel stiff.
  4. 04Try it onCheck the shoulders and sleeves, and leave room for what you will wear underneath.

How to Care for Fur

Fur asks for very little, but it does not forgive heat. Warmth and dry air dry out the skin beneath the hair, and that is what ages a fur before its time. In a climate like Bodrum’s, summer storage matters more than anything you do in winter.

Look after it well and a fine fur is something you can wear for many years and pass on. Our team will gladly advise you on your particular piece.

  • Hang it properly. Use a broad, padded hanger so the shoulders keep their shape.
  • Let it breathe. Cover it with cloth, never plastic, and give it space in the wardrobe.
  • Keep it cool and dark. Store it away from sunlight, heaters and humidity.
  • Dry it naturally. If it gets wet, shake it out and let it dry at room temperature.
  • Avoid sprays. Perfume and hairspray dry the hair. Apply them before you put your fur on.
  • Clean it professionally. Fur needs a specialist fur cleaner, not ordinary dry cleaning.
Frequently asked

Women’s Fur in Bodrum FAQ

Short answers to the questions customers most often ask before choosing, wearing or caring for a fur piece.

Which types of fur can I find at Leather Bodrum?

The collection includes mink, sable, fox, chinchilla and rex, together with leather pieces finished with fur details such as collars, trims or linings.

How do I know if a fur is good quality?

Good fur should feel dense, silky and supple. The surface should have an even sheen, the hair should spring back after you touch it, and the garment should feel surprisingly light for the warmth it provides.

Which fur is the lightest to wear?

Sable and chinchilla are especially prized for their lightness and softness. Mink is also comfortable to wear and is well known for combining durability with a refined finish.

Can I order a fur piece made to my measurements?

Yes. Made-to-order options allow you to discuss the fur, color, cut and fit before the piece is prepared to your measurements.

How should fur be stored in Bodrum during summer?

Keep it in a cool, dark and well-ventilated place on a broad padded hanger. Avoid plastic covers, direct sun, heaters and excessive humidity. For valuable fur, specialist seasonal storage is the safest option.

What should I do if my fur gets wet?

Shake off excess water and allow it to dry naturally at room temperature. Do not use a hair dryer, heater or other direct heat source.
